Is doTERRA a Pyramid Scheme?

 Is doTERRA a Pyramid Scheme | AmandaNazzal.com

From time to random time I get the question “Isn’t doTERRA just another pyramid scheme.” So in order to answer this question very clearly, I decided to write a blog to help all of you better understand the subject. What I DO know - is that it is VERY easy to get confused - especially with the amount of baggage most people have around the idea of network marketing. Anyway, I’ll keep this short and sweet. So let’s go ahead and dive right in!

1. To put it simply - doTERRA is NOT a Pyramid Scheme.

Let’s begin with the definition of pyramid scheme:

pyr·a·mid scheme

noun

noun: pyramid scheme; plural noun: pyramid schemes

  1. pyramid scheme (commonly known as pyramid scams) is a business model that recruits members via a promise of payments or services for enrolling others into the scheme, rather than supplying investments or sale of products or services.

So let’s dive a little deeper. A pyramid scheme is very much literally a form of investment - it involves money and no products.

2. doTERRA Is a Privately Owned Network Marketing Company with Incredible Integrity

Now let’s dive into the definition of MLM or Multi-Level-Marketing:

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also called pyramid selling,[1][2] network marketing,[2][3] and referral marketing,[4] is a marketing strategy for the sale of products or services where the revenue of the MLM company is derived from a non-salaried workforce selling the company's products/services, while the earnings of the participants are derived from a pyramid-shaped or binary compensation commission system

So as we compare the two - we see that a pyramid scheme has no physical products, while multi-level-marketing, or network marketing has an end product (in this case - the highest quality essential oils).

A fun fact: doTERRA is a privately owned company. In other words, doTERRA has never taken an outside investment. They literally put everything they had into this company to maintain the integrity of it, they didn’t pay themselves for over a year and after that took a considerably lower wage than they were accustomed to so they could keep corruption and investment out of it and stay true to what they wanted to create. It was and always will be about the products, the purity, potency and indigenous sourcing of these amazing  oils.

3. doTERRA is network of passionate educators empowering one another to change the face of healthcare.

What I’ve come to learn is that we are part of a global network of teachers, educating one another on how to revolutionize health care, keeping our health in our own hands rather than in the hands of doctors prescribing toxic medications, and detoxifying our homes from the neurological and physiological onslaught of petrochemicals.

When I began teaching and sharing the Oils, I became part of a conscious initiative to create awareness and accessibility to the Earth’s finest resources – the plants. As I learn, I teach, and as I teach, the team grows. Same for you.

Now that the Oils are a part of my every day existence, and my kid asks for them morning noon and night to ameliorate his upsets, falls, emotions and fears, I see that I wish I’d had these tools as a child, as a teenager (!) and i feel so thankful for them now.

One breath in of Bergamot in the early morning, and he remembers he is in charge of his responses, not a victim of his circumstances. One swipe of On Guard or Breathe on his spine or his feet, and we both see and feel the shift in his body’s capacity to manage seasonal threats.

Then when I share this with my team, I’ve just lit up the network of other teachers who’ll then use the Oils on their children, and share with their communities, and the work continues…”
